Au pairs offer a helping hand for Thanksgiving
Six international au pairs from Brazil, Columbia, Spain and South Africa currently staying with host families in Larchmont, New York, volunteered to help feed those in need the Monday before Thanksgiving by dedicating their hands and hearts to the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force.
The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was formed in 1993 by a coalition of community organizations dedicated to assisting local families in need in any way they can. With the help of school children and other volunteers the weekend prior, Thanksgiving style holiday foods had been collected from local supermarkets. Helping hands were then needed to divide the offerings into individual bags and assist with handing them out.
The au pairs were very eager to help and enjoyed interacting with many people in the community who were hungry and needed assistance. They were also excited to celebrate the American Thanksgiving Holiday by helping those who are less fortunate than themselves. The au pairs were so moved by their time at Larchmont-Mamaroneck over the Thanksgiving Holiday, they have decided to sign up to help on a more regular basis.
