The Alliance for International Exchange is looking for a dynamic and creative professional to help execute our advocacy and engagement efforts. The Alliance is an association of over 90 organizations and serves as the only collective public policy voice of the exchange community in the United States. The Associate for External Relations supports the work of the Alliance both internally and externally. S/he reports to the Senior Director and works closely with other staff members, Alliance members, and coalition organizations and companies on projects primarily focused on congressional engagement.

The Associate supports, among others, the following activities:

  • Development and implementation of strategies to cultivate relationships with elected officials and their staff in local areas and states
  • Grassroots engagement in advocacy campaigns
  • Coalition facilitation
  • Organization and execution of member “fly-in” meetings in DC
  • Coordination of J Day activities nationwide
  • Planning and staging of member Annual Meeting

The Alliance seeks a young professional with strong organizing, writing, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated interest in advocacy and/or related work is strongly preferred. Experience supporting associations and/or coalitions is a plus, as is knowledge of and personal experience with international affairs and/or exchange programs. Bachelor’s degree with some work experience and/or relevant graduate degree required.
