Time’s Richard Stengel nominated to be Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs

President Obama nominated yesterday Richard Stengel, Managing Editor of Time magazine, to be Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, according to a White House press announcement.

Several news sources, including the New York Times and Politico, speculated last week that Stengel would be President Obama’s pick to succeed Tara Sonenshine as the next Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs [the Alliance reported].

Stengel’s nomination will now be considered by the Senate. A confirmation hearing date has not yet been announced.
