The Alliance for International Exchange seeks to hire a highly enthusiastic and talented Program Fellow to help meet the significant engagement and advocacy challenges facing educational and cultural exchange programs. The Fellow is part of and supports a committed team of professionals who are educating others about the power of exchanges and advocating for their expansion. The Fellow supports and is responsible for work in the following areas:

  •   Helping facilitate member engagement and advocacy
  •   Supporting communications efforts to members and external audiences
  •   Assisting in developing and implementing events
  •   Organizing staff training and program exposure
  •   Providing administrative support as needed

The Fellow works with Alliance staff as needed and is supervised by the Manager for Public and Member Affairs. The Fellow will provide a presentation at the end of his/her term outlining key successes and challenges, and the lessons learned during the fellowship.


The fellowship term is between ten and twelve months, and tracks the academic year. Alliance fellowships are full-time, paid positions. Fellows are eligible for healthcare, transportation support, and other benefits. Alliance fellows are trained in advocacy, coalition organizing, communications, and operations. The fellowship aims to help develop the next generation of leaders within the international exchange community. Fellows develop an understanding of exchange programs and form a network of professionals in the exchange community.


The Alliance seeks Fellows who are ready to make a positive contribution to the international exchange community. Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence in an academic setting, strong writing skills, and independence. They will also demonstrate leadership potential through college activities, internships, employment, and/or research projects. An undergraduate degree is a prerequisite. International studies and/or international experience are a plus. Post-graduate students will also be considered.
