Last week, Congress passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government through December 9th, preventing a government shutdown after the close of the fiscal year on September 30.

The CR provides $54.4 billion for the International Affairs Budget, including Department of State exchange programs. Due to a required across-the-board cut, the CR funding level is slightly below the current spending level of $54.6 billion, but is close to the administration’s FY2017 budget request of $54.3 billion.
